The Damm Foundation shows its most supportive side with Ukraine

Through World Central Kitchen, Rodilla sandwiches and biscuits, as well as fruit juices, chocolate milkshakes and milk have been delivered to the refugee centre in Pozuelo de Alarcón, in addition to a donation of 6,000 euros directly to chef José Andrés' charity

Last weekend, the Damm Foundation - through the NGO World Central Kitchen (WCK)- donated food and drinks to the Reception, Care and Referral Centre in Pozuelo de Alarcón (Madrid), to meet the basic needs of all those people from Ukraine who have been forced to abandon their country fleeing the war.

In total, more than 1,000 Rodilla sandwiches, around 1,000 litres of fruit juices, more than 1,100 litres of Letona milk and 150 litres of Cacaolat chocolate milkshake, as well as 15,000 biscuits will be distributed among the people they serve on a daily basis, to whom they provide the necessary documentation to move, live and work in Spain. This donation was made possible thanks to the involvement of the Madrid chef Pepa Muñoz and Alicia Ruiz Yebra, coordinator of World Central Kitchen in Spain.

In addition, the Damm Foundation - chaired by Demetrio Carceller Arce - has directly donated 6,000 euros to the NGO of chef José Andrés, who, since the military offensive began, has been supporting local restaurants in the preparation of food and its subsequent distribution among Ukrainian citizens, thanks to the collaboration of thousands of volunteers.

The organisation also collaborates with "Tapas for Peace", an initiative born in restaurants in Barcelona and which is now spreading throughout the country. At each meal, each diner will be able to add 1 euro to the bill, which will go directly to World Central Kitchen.

Last weekend, Damm employees took part once again in the Magic Line SJD, the annual charity event organised by Obra Social de San Juan de Dios to help people in vulnerable situations. This year, part of the proceeds from the event will be used to help refugee families from Ukraine. The Damm teams covered more than 2,200 km, for which the Damm Foundation will donate €1 for every kilometre covered by Damm participants.

The Damm Foundation is closely following the evolution of the social needs that this conflict may generate and plans to extend its collaboration in the coming days.
