Damm's sustainable packaging, recognised internationally

The PEFC cardboard packaging that surrounds can packs has been recognised at the WorldStar Global Packaging Awards

Damm's cardboard packaging with rounded corners, which substitutes the decorated plastic that surrounded can packs of the different company brands, such as Estrella Damm, Voll-Damm, or Free Damm, among others, has won the WorldStar Global Packaging Award 2022 for the beverage section.

The contest's jury, comprised of industry leader professionals of the packaging sector from over 60 countries, recognised Damm's rounded corner pack, developed by Graphic Packaging International Spain, for its sustainability. The packaging is made of natural fibres and boasts the PEFC certification that certifies that the cardboard used comes from sustainably and responsibly maintained forests, entailing the reduction of 99 tons of plastic waste per year. The disruptive structure of rounded corners has been distinguished for its innovative design and facilitates interaction with consumers due to its various options for opening the packaging.

The WorldStar Global Packaging Awards, organised since 1970 by the World Packaging Organisation (WPO), strive to increase awareness regarding the importance of packaging in order to enjoy a better life, as well as to acknowledge the innovation and effort by all sector representatives involved in creating the packaging solutions of the future, which address new challenges and global trends such as sustainability, hygiene, and other tendencies.
