The old Estrella Damm brewery welcomed more than 100,000 visitors in 2023

Over the last year, this historic building has served as the venue of choice for 230 events related to culture, gastronomy, sport and innovation

The old Estrella Damm brewery continues to establish itself as a benchmark space of social and cultural life in the city of Barcelona. Over the last year, 230 events related to culture, gastronomy, sport and innovation, which have attracted more than 100,000 attendees, were held at the emblematic building on Roselló 515.

In 2023, the old Estrella Damm brewery has once again become the setting for widely popular events such as the BAM - Barcelona Acció Musical festival, held during the festivities of la Mercè de Barcelona, or the Sant Jordi Musical, which boasted performances by Els Catarres, Gertrudis, 31 FAM or Triquell, among other artists and musical groups from the Catalan music scene.

The building's facilities have also hosted major sporting events such as the “Gala de les Estrelles del Fútbol Català” or the “III Gala Femenina de Futbol Europeo de Mundo Deportivo”, along with gastronomic events such as the Time to Eat Fest or the Van Van Market. It has also hosted other events such as the MWC Barcelona presentation press conference or the British Consulate's King's Birthday Party.

Guided tours of the old Estrella Damm brewery

In addition to serving as a venue for benchmark events for the city, the old Estrella Damm brewery has continued to promote guided tours of its facilities, which have become a successful leisure activity option in Barcelona. Located in a highly attractive area for tourists, next to the Sant Pau Hospital and the Sacred Family cathedral, the old brewery has become a point of interest for both local and foreign visitors.

During this last year, over 6,860 people have been able to learn how beer was prepared almost a century and a half ago thanks to tours through several different areas such as the boiler room or machinery room, and Damm's historical archive. This space houses over 147,000 objects that bore witness to not only the 148 years of the company's history, but to the cultural, economic and social changes that ocurred since 1876, the year of the company's founding. Additionally, the visit allows for the addition of gastronomic experiences such as a guided Damm beer tasting tour or a five-dish accompanimient menu in one of the building's historic spaces.

Since opening its doors to the citizenry in 2010 following the renovation of its facilities, the old Estrella Damm brewery has been positioned as one of the neuralgic centers of social and cultural life in Barcelona by hosting concerts, music festivals, popular celebrations, corporate events and gastronomic experiences. By means of promoting and supporting this type of initiative, Damm seeks to contribute and reinforce the social and cultural fabric of Barcelona, as well as strengthen the bonds it has always maintained with the community.
