5,000 people take part in Estrella Damm’s ‘La Cursa dels 150 Anys’

5.000 personas participan en 'La Cursa dels 150 Anys' de Estrella Damm

The event organised by Estrella Damm brings together thousands of participants at a five-km event held in El Prat de Llobregat

On Saturday, Estrella Damm held the Cursa dels 150 Anys, a race held on the occasion of its anniversary that brought together 5,000 runners in El Prat de Llobregat on a day shaped by sport, music and celebrations. The race, whose registration period ended just a few weeks after it began, has made a name for itself as one of the highlights of the company’s 150th anniversary commemorative programme.

Starting and finishing at the La Ricarda Farm, the participants completed a five-km route through some of the most iconic locations in the area surrounding El Prat de Llobregat (Barcelona). One of the most unique moments of the day was the visit to Estrella Damm’s brewery, an exceptional opportunity to see from a new standpoint facilities that aren’t usually accessible, ones from which the company exports its beer to over 130 countries.

In the sporting arena, victory in the men’s adult category went to Pau Capdevila, who beat Victor Aguilera and Blai Hermoso into second and third place. In the women’s adult category, victory went to Alba Trigueros, while Ariadna Ivars and Noelia Jiménez also earned their places on the podium. The race also saw participation from Damm’s employees, with recognition given to the first three male and female employees to cross the finishing line.

The celebration didn’t end after the runners crossed the finish line. Once the race was over, the La Ricarda Farm became the meeting point for the participants, who had the chance to recover with a butifarrada (a meal featuring spicy Catalan sausage) before enjoying a concert by local artist Alfred Garcia and a DJ set that brought a day marked by a festive atmosphere and shared celebrations to an end.

The celebration of Estrella Damm’s 150th anniversary

The Cursa dels 150 Anys is part of the programme of activities to celebrate Estrella Damm's 150th anniversary, a commemoration to highlight the company’s historical connection with the territory, sport and culture.

The initiatives organised this year include February’s launch of Bohemia Damm Reserva 150, a slow-ageing beer with an intense and balanced profile that recovers the original name of the iconic Estrella Damm Old Brewery and pays tribute to its origins.

It was a celebration that placed music centre stage. On 16 May, thousands of people filled the Parc del Fòrum on the occasion of Estrella Damm’s Festa de los 150 Anys (150-Year Party), an event that featured prominent artists from the Catalan music scene, including Oques Grasses, Love of Lesbian, Mushka, The Tyets, Els Catarres, 31 Fam, Ginestà and Maria Jaume.

This musical proposal will be followed by Directes Estrella Damm 150, a series of concerts jointly organised by the ASACC, which will bring 45 artists to 45 venues in Catalonia, the Balearic Islands, Castellón and Andorra in September and October. It will highlight the role of concert halls as venues that are key to developing artists and revitalising the music scene, with a programme that combines well-established stars and emerging talents.

The climax of the celebrations will take place at the end of the year with the opening of the Immersive Space at the Estrella Damm Old Brewery. Conceived as a permanent and interactive experience, this new space will enable visitors to learn more about Damm’s 150-year history by means of an immersive tour that brings them closer to the brand’s legacy, values and brewing culture.

With this set of initiatives, Estrella Damm is commemorating a 150-year track record characterised by innovation, deep roots in the region and ongoing evolution. It’s a celebration that pays tribute to its journey until now and demonstrates its will to continue building the future without losing sight of its origins.
