Albert Adrià receives the 2025 Estrella Damm Chefs' Choice Award

The Chefs’ Choice Award is the only one presented at the The World’s 50 Best Restaurants gala that is voted for by the chefs of the restaurants that appear on the list
During The World’s 50 Best Restaurants international gala, Albert Adrià, the chef and owner of Enigma in Barcelona, was presented with the 2025 Estrella Damm Chefs’ Choice Award, the only one in the ranking that is voted for by the chefs who are on this prestigious list.
The chef received the award yesterday in Turin, the city that hosted the 20th edition of The World’s 50 Best Restaurants, an event that brings together an exceptional community of chefs from all over the world and unveils the list of the 50 best restaurants on the planet, drawn up each year by the British magazine Restaurant. On this occasion, Maido (Lima, Peru) was crowned the world's best restaurant. Then came Asador Etxebarri (Axpe, Vizcaya) and Quintonil (Mexico City, Mexico) that took second and third place.
After receiving the Estrella Damm Chefs’ Choice Award, Albert Adrià declared: “This year is my fortieth working in this world, and to receive a recognition such as this from the sector is a great honour. To be acknowledged by your colleagues in this way is certainly something very special.
Albert Adrià (L’Hospitalet del Llobregat, 1969) is regarded as one of the most influential people in the world of contemporary gastronomy. He currently runs Enigma, which reflects all the knowledge, technical expertise and experience he has acquired throughout his professional career. Enigma is, above all, a restaurant with seasonal produce. Adrià uses the produce he comes across in the market from one month to the next. Enigma is currently ranked 34th on The World’s 50 Best Restaurants list.
The Estrella Damm Chefs’ Choice Award is the only one in The World’s 50 Best Restaurants programme that is voted for by the chefs themselves, making it a true celebration of the sense of community within the world of gastronomy. Presented to a chef who has made a positive contribution to the global food scene over the past year, it is chosen by the chefs of the restaurants named on the World’s Best Restaurants list.
Estrella Damm and its link to the finest international gastronomy
Since 2014, Estrella Damm has sponsored the list of The World's 50 best restaurants, and since 2016 it has presented the Chefs’ Choice Award. In recent years, renowned chefs such as Joan Roca (El Celler de Can Roca, Girona) and Víctor Arginzoniz (Asador Etxebarri, Axpe - Vizcaya) have won the award.
Similarly, since 2017 the brand has consolidated its link with the international gastronomic community by sponsoring the Latin American edition of the ranking and, since 2018, the Asian version, in addition to both of their Chefs’ Choice Awards, thereby showcasing the best restaurants on the two continents.
