The executive president of Damm, Demetrio Carceller Arce, received the award at a ceremony that brought together more than 300 representatives from Catalonia’s business, political, and social sectors
Damm has been awarded the highest honour at the 2025 Company of the Year Awards, presented by El Periódico and Banc Sabadell, at a ceremony held at the Barcelona Bar Association, highlighting the international expansion of companies.
The award was accepted by Demetrio Carceller Arce, Executive Chairman of Damm, and presented by the President of the Government of Catalonia, Salvador Illa; the Chairman of Banco Sabadell, Josep Oliu; and the Chairman and Vice-Chairwoman of Prensa Ibérica, Javier Moll and Arantza Sarasola.
“Damm has evolved profoundly throughout its 150-year history, from local business to a large, highly diversified group with global reach,” explained Demetrio Carceller Arce during his speech, adding that “our approach to running the company, with responsibility, long-term vision and commitment to people and the environment, has remained unchanged.” He also highlighted the work done by “the different generations that have built Damm and continue to represent its values with the same spirit as in 1876.”
Furthermore, he emphasised the historical link with Barcelona, “a city that has managed to build modernity without compromising its essence; that combines industry, creativity and culture; and that understands that real progress is only possible if it is shared.”
He finished off by expressing his gratitude for this recognition, which encourages the company to look to the future “with the same determination as always, to continue evolving without losing sight of its essence, to remain innovative without losing its focus on people, and to keep moving forward with the conviction that the best is yet to come.”
During the ceremony, which brought together more than 300 representatives of the Catalan business, political and social fabric, Núria Cabutí, CEO of Penguin Random House, was also honoured as Businesswoman of the Year, as well as seven other Catalan companies for their social work, innovation, sustainability and international projection.
