The Escuela Superior de Música Reina Sofía and the Damm Foundation offer a concert for Damm employees

The wind quintet Ricercata has played pieces by Jacques Ibert, Carl Nielsen and Maurice Ravel

The Ricercata Quintet has offered a concert at the Estrella Damm Old Brewery for company employees, in which they have played a selection of pieces by composers such as Jacques Ibert, Carl Nielsen y Maurice Ravel. The performance was made possible thanks to the cooperation between the Escuela Superior de Música Reina Sofía (Higher School of Music Reina Sofía) and the Damm Foundation, patron of the Oboe Chair since class 2022/2023.

The wind quintet's performance was accompanied by a presentation from Álvaro Guibert, director of Foreign Relations at the Escuela Superior de Música Reina Sofía, during which he offered attendees hints on how to learn to listen to and enjoy classical music. The performance included the presence of Ramon Agenjo, Vice-president of the Damm Foundation, Paloma O'Shea, founding chairman of the Escuela Superior de Música Reina Sofía and Julia Sánchez, its CEO.

Established in the heart of the Escuela Superior de Música Reina Sofía in 2017, the Ricercata quintet is comprised of Sofía Salazar (flute), Fidel Fernández - student of the Damm Foundation Oboe Chair -, Pablo López (clarinet), Marta Montes (French horn), and Manuel Angulo (bassoon), who due to a last-minute illness was replaced by his colleague Javier Sanz. The members of the quintet receive their training from professors Jacques Zoon, Hansjörg Schellenberger, Pascal Moraguès, Radovan Vlatković and Gustavo Núñez.

The Damm Foundation and the Escuela Superior de Música Reina Sofía began their collaboration in June of 2022, when the Foundation became the new patron of the Oboe Chair. Every year, over 150 students from close to 30 different nationalities study at the school tuition-free, thanks to patrons' contributions. With this agreement, the Damm Foundation looks to drive the promotion of music education and the knowledge of young musicians in society, supporting the daily needs of its students and the organization of artistic activities like concerts throughout Spanish territory by young musicians that are part of the "Damm Foundation's Oboe Chair".
